The new energy industry is one of the emphatic developing industries in Suzhou New District (SND). It has formed a silicon wafer production chain centered on Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL), a cells and modules production chain with a core company of Canadian Solar Inc., a photovoltaic equipment manufacturing chain with HRT group and Yazhi System Company as delegates and a complete photovoltaic industrial chain with SMA New Energy Technology Co Ltd and Goodwe as representative enterprises.
There are more than 60 new energy companies in SND, including 28 companies above the designated scale. The total output value in 2017 was about 30 billion yuan ($4.76 billion), and is predicted to reach 60 billion by 2020.
