Construction on the fourth phase of Shimadzu (Suzhou) Instruments Manufacturing Co in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, commenced on Aug 3, local media reported.
The fourth phase is expected to introduce a production line for high-end mass spectrometers, which are only produced in Japan, and state-of-the-art products and high-end medical devices such as online environmental testing instrument.
Aoyama Koki, president of Shimadzu (China) Co, thanked SND authorities for their support and assistance at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Koki said with a solid industrial foundation, beautiful natural environment, complete public facilities, and favorable business environment, SND is perfect for Shimadzu.
As a world-leading manufacturer of analytical and measuring instruments, Shimadzu focuses on three core technologies – optical technology, X-ray, and image processing.
Since Shimadzu started operating in SND in 1998, it has replenished capital in the district twice to expand production, making Shimadzu (Suzhou) Instruments Manufacturing Co its largest overseas production base.
In recent years, SND has been creating a new innovative development hub by cultivating high-end projects. The district is now home to nearly 2,000 foreign-invested businesses, including 721 Japan-invested companies and 62 funded by Fortune Global 500 enterprises.
