On November 16th, a symposium was held in Jiuquan and attended by officials from the city government and the State Grid Gansu Electric Power Co. It unveiled the Jiuquan New Power System Research Center, with Wang Liqi, Party secretary of the city, chairing the event. 

Wang expressed gratitude to the company for its support and concern for the development of Jiuquan. He mentioned that Jiuquan has become an important national new energy base and the largest onshore wind power base, thanks to the support of the State Grid Gansu Provincial Power Company. He said he hopes that the company will participate in the construction of new energy projects in Jiuquan, including power grid access, electricity transmission channels, and "zero-carbon city", and the municipal government will fully support and serve the construction and development of these projects.

Lin Yifan, chairman and Party secretary of the State Grid Gansu Province Electric Power Co, expressed the company's commitment to ensuring power supply and promoting the development of the power grid in Gansu province, highlighting their focus on becoming a "hub" for the power grid in northwest China, a "main channel" for transmitting electricity from West to East, and a "major base" for the construction of a new power system. They aim to accelerate the construction of a new power system demonstration in Gansu province, said Lin who also expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with Jiuquan and support the city’s key new energy projects and economy.

After the symposium, Wang and Lin unveiled the Jiuquan New Energy Power System Research Center.

The center is led by the government and jointly established by enterprises and various stakeholders. The main coordinating unit is the State Grid Jiuquan Electric Power Co, with involvement from relevant government departments, power sources, and key user enterprises. Its main functions include conducting energy and power planning to support the development of new energy, facilitating government investment attraction by creating a strategic decision-making think tank, providing energy-saving and efficiency-improving services to enterprises through comprehensive energy utilization plans, establishing energy big data to enhance carbon asset management services, and innovating in the areas of power generation, transmission, storage, and interactive coordination to create a new energy system demonstration zone.
