The selection for the "Guihua Xianzi" (Osmanthus Fairy) of Lingui district, Guilin, kicked off with a spectacular opening on April 16th. Contestants from various industries and universities in Guilin competed in the preliminary round by showing off their outfits on stage, and were evaluated by seven professional judges. All of the contestants on stage were full of energy, showcasing their unique styles and delivering a spectacular visual feast for the audience. The event was broadcast live online across multiple platforms, including the WeChat video account of Lingui Today, Douyin (Chinese TikTok), and more, attracting over 900,000 viewers.
The contestants who passed the preliminary round will have the chance to showcase their personal style through photo shoots and presentations. The organizers also plan to invite previous Miss Tourism World winners to provide guidance and interact with the contestants. The final competition will be held in October, where the top three male and female contestants will be signed as city ambassadors to promote Lingui's cultural tourism.
According to the person in charge of the Lingui District Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Sports, and Tourism, the Osmanthus Fairy selection event is part of the "Hey Cool Lingui" series of events aimed at building Lingui's brand image and inheriting Osmanthus culture. They hope to choose an Osmanthus Fairy with a good image, temperament, substance, and affinity, to truly showcase Lingui's unique charm and contribute to the construction of a world-class tourism city in Guilin.
This event has attracted the attention and participation of many outstanding young people, including those who work or study outside of Guilin. They feel that Lingui is not only their hometown but also the new center of Guilin's development. They love Lingui and hope to represent their hometown through this event and promote Lingui and Guilin to more people.
In recent years, Lingui District has been continuously exploring and developing its advantages as the traditional planting area of the national flower, the Osmanthus, and promoting the development of the Osmanthus industry. Currently, there are around 100,000 acres of Osmanthus trees in the district, mainly consisting of Jin Gui (golden Gui) and Yin Gui (silver Gui), as well as Si Ji Gui (four-season Gui) and Dan Gui (red Gui). Since 2016, the district has invested over 90 million yuan in constructing the Osmanthus boutique park and promoting the Osmanthus culture brand. They are planning to hold a Osmanthus culture tourism festival to further promote Lingui's Osmanthus products and enhance the area's reputation and visibility, contributing to the construction of Guilin's new district.
