Guilin acts to creat a world class tourism city

On the morning of June 5th, 2023, Guilin City hosted the main event for World Environment Day at Guangxi Normal University. The event was themed around "Constructing Modernization of Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature".
During the opening ceremony, representatives from the 2023 National Most Beautiful Ecological Environment Volunteers and student environmental volunteers from Guangxi Normal University jointly read a proclamation, calling on the public to embrace the concept of ecological civilization and become advocates, participants, and defenders of a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
The event also included the presentation of plaques to eight institutions named as the third batch of Guangxi Ecological Environment Promotion and Education Practice Bases. Furthermore, there was a special lecture titled "Strive to be the Guardian Spirit in Protecting the Scenic Beauty of Guilin". The lecture highlighted the remarkable contributions of five individuals, namely, Tang Jianwei, Wang Zhicheng, Huang Jinfeng, He Naizhu, Yang Bolun, as well as the Lijiang River Management Committee. These individuals and the organization have made outstanding efforts in protecting the Lijiang River.

In addition to the indoor activities, the event featured four themed exhibition areas, representing the International Day for Biological Diversity, World Environment Day, World Oceans Day, and National Low Carbon Day respectively. These areas, consisting of 14 informative booths, effectively communicated the principles of ecological civilization and added a festive atmosphere to the Event.
Wang Xin, deputy mayor of the People's Government of Guilin City, hoped that the event would serve as an opportunity for the entire city to put into action the development philosophy of "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." He emphasized the importance of strengthening the city’s ecological advantages, ensuring the high-level protection of the Lijiang River and Guilin's natural beauty, and making significant contributions towards establishing Guilin as a model for the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature in China's modernization.

The event was attended by over 350 representatives, including delegates from the Department of Ecological Environment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Administrative Ecological Environment of Guilin, the Guangxi Guilin Ecological Environment Monitoring Center, member units of the Ecological Environment Protection Committee of Guilin, university faculty and students, corporate representatives, media journalists, as well as representatives from local environmental organizations and volunteer groups in Guilin City.
