Yue-Sai Kan's autobiography Be a Pioneer launched in Guilin

On July 4th, the launch for Be A Pioneer, the autobiography of Chinese-American author Yue-Sai Kan, was held in Guilin. The event attracted fans from all over the country, and the relaxed interactive atmosphere on site evoked nostalgic memories of the era she grew up in.

During the event, Kan shared her experiences of building schools in Guilin and her involvement in philanthropic endeavors. She also mentioned the significant changes she observed in Guilin during her multiple visits. She encouraged young media professionals to be courageous, innovative, and to share captivating narratives of China. Furthermore, she revealed her plans for a new program that will showcase the dynamic aspects of modern-day China in a manner that global audiences will appreciate.

On July 5th, Kan was awarded the title of "Ambassador for Guilin Cultural Communication" by the Guilin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. Having been born in Guilin, she has long been devoted to promoting and introducing her city to the world. She is recognized as a passionate philanthropist and social activist, actively engaged in charitable activities worldwide. Her actions have inspired an increasing number of patriotic Chinese individuals to contribute to charitable causes and to the development of their local communities.

As a Chinese American, Kan has been committed to advancing cultural exchanges between China and the United States, serving as a vital bridge for communication between the two countries. 

In the 1980s, she produced and hosted popular television programs like "Looking East" and "China in Transition" in the United States, providing dynamic and captivating insights into Chinese culture and the reforms in China. 

Kan has received numerous honors, including the Friendship Ambassador Award, Outstanding Talent Award, and International Media Exchange Award.
