The Guilin Rice Noodles soccer team made its debut on Aug 19 at the Guilin Sports Arena football field - in the city of Guilin, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region - in their new team uniform.
The team will now go to Rongjiang county in Southwest China's Guizhou province to participate in a local Village Super League, or cunchao, a grassroots soccer tournament.

Li Jun, head of Guilin's publicity department, said that the main purpose of forming a soccer team to participate in the competition was to get experience in playing the Village Super series in Guizhou.
He added that this would also help boost the development of Guilin's cultural tourism industry and accelerate the transformation of Guilin into a world-class tourist city.
In addition, Guilin will host a round of "sports+" cultural tourism activities, using the competition as a platform and combining it with cultural tourism to enable soccer fans and their families to explore the city.
