Yanshan district

Yanshan district, situated in the south of Guilin, is comprised of two towns, two townships, one street and 35 villages, covering an area of 302 square kilometers with a population of 180,000. It is located in the core area of the Guilin Karst World Heritage Site, the core area of Lijiang River scenic spot. Yanshan is an autonomous region-level ecological district, and is home to one 5A scenic spot, three 4A scenic spots and two 3A scenic spots, and is a famous tourist district of Guangxi. It is one of Guangxi’s hubs of universities, including Guangxi Normal University, the Guilin University of Technology, Guilin Tourism University, and another five colleges and universities with more than 80,000 students and teachers. Yanshan is an important place of origin of the history and culture of Lingnan area (the lands to the south of the Nanling Mountains). Its father-son rock site was listed as the National key cultural relics protection unit. The ancient Guiliu canal and Yanshan gardens are important marks of Yanshan regional culture. 

In 2021, Yanshan achieved a 5 percent increase in its GDP; its revenue in the general public budget increased by 8.1 percent; investment in fixed assets was 2.518 billion yuan; total retail sales of consumer goods grew by 8.2 percent; and its per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents rose by 6.5 percent and 10.7 percent, respectively.
