Xiangshan district

Xiangshan district was name after the scenery site Elephant Trunk Hill, which situates at south central Guilin city, administrating Xiangshan, Nanmen and Pingshan streets, Ertang village and sub-administrating 36 communities and 8 villages. Xiangshan district People’s government locates at No.6 Huancheng West Second Road. The district covers an area of 88 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, it has registered population of 243,880. It boasts with both beautiful scenery and various cultural relics and historic sites, including Lijiang River, Xiangshan Park, Nanxishan Part and Zengpiyan National Archaeology Relics.

Xiangshan district has a superior location advantage, which used to be the place of Guilin’s Party and government offices and the center of Guilin’s politics, economy,culture, finance and transportation. Railway station, freight station, bus terminal and post and telecommunications building are all in the district. Hunan-Guangxi Railway runs through the district and highways connect the district to all directions. It is 26 kilometers away from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport. There are Lijiang River and Taohua River in Xiangshan district to provide abundant water resource. The district has a number of large and medium enterprises, such as Guilin Sanhua Co., LTD, Guilin aerospace electronics and so on as well as various large tourism and trade enterprises including Guilin Department Store Co., LTD, Lianda Commercial Plaza, Guilin international tourism commodity wholesale city and so on. 

In 2021, the annual regional GDP reached 19.718 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6.5 percent. The added value of the primary industry achieved 134 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.0 percent; added value of the secondary industry reached 6.295 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 5.9 percent, among which the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 14.2% year-on-year; the added value of the tertiary industry reached 13.289 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6.9 percent; revenue in the general public budget achieved 341 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 35.7 percent; the investment in fixed assets reached 4.899 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 19.1 percent; the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 12.33 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 5.8 percent; the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 41,975 yuan and the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 18,585 yuan, increased by 7.6 percent and 8.3 percent respectively. Its total GDP ranked third in the city and the growth rate ranked first among the five urban districts. Its social governance was in the leading place of the city. The district was awarded as the 9th batch of the national demonstration zone for ethnic unity and progress for its ethnic group and religion work.
