Quanzhou is a county located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. It is in the upstream of the Xiangjiang River and on the border with Hunan. It is known as the largest county-level area in Guilin in terms of its land and population.

Quanzhou covers an area of 4,021 square kilometers and administers 18 townships. It has a population of 843,000 and over five percent of them belong to ethnic minorities.

Quanzhou boasts huge geographical advantages and convenient transport. For instance, it was an important regional center and goods distribution hub between Guangxi and Hunan in history. The Hunan-Guangxi railway and highway, the Hengyang-Kunming and Xiamen-Chengdu highways, and the No.322 state-level road have traversed the county together.

Quanzhou has become an integral part of the three-hour economic circle, which comprises Nanning, Guangzhou, Changsha and Guiyang cities.

In addition to having over 20 mineral resources like coal, manganese, lead zinc and tungsten-tin, Quanzhou also has rich agricultural, forestry and tourism resources. Statistics show that its forest coverage rate has reached 68.2 percent. It has been highly reputed for its production of millet, pepper, garlic, ginger, grape, tangerine, fish and pork as well. Top tourist destinations include Xiangshan Temple, the Sky Lake, and Sanjiangkou.

During the past few year, Quanzhou has positioned itself as northern gate of Guangxi and an integral part of Guilin and made remarkable progress in its economic and social development.

Data shows that its GDP grew by 5.8 percent in the first quarter of 2022, the fourth highest in Guilin. Its industrial output and the total value of the construction sector registered a quarterly growth of 10.9 percent and 26.1 percent. Its retail sales saw an increase of 5.6 percent and the average per capita disposable income for urban and rural people rose by 4.6 percent and 6.7 percent respectively during the same period.
