Autumn is here and the harvest season has arrived for 2,000 mu (133 hectares) of persimmon trees in Datian village, in Yanshan district of Guilin.

Tasting these persimmons immediately brings forth a rich autumn flavor. The main varieties of the persimmons include Yue Shi – known for its large size, thin skin and seedless flesh. Then there is the Da Qiu variety, known for its high sugar content and round shape.

They are often referred to as the "Hermès of persimmons" and are edible directly from the tree.

A viewing platform in the persimmon orchard provides fabulous mountain views – showing not only the persimmon trees all over the slopes, but also the picturesque scenery of the Lijiang River.

The harvest season lasts until November and it only takes a 30-minute drive from the city to the persimmon orchard.

Visitors can also explore the refreshed Qianjing village and cycle on the greenway along the Lijiang River.
