Zhang Xiaoyang, director of the bureau of ecology and environment of Guilin, outlined key initiatives to align environmental protection with economic development. Guilin achieved a 96.7 percent excellent air quality rate while maintaining 100 percent excellent water quality in national monitoring sections, ranking third nationwide last year.
Guilin intends to prioritize precision in pollution control by employing radar detection and artificial intelligence (AI), in conjunction with river dredging and stringent measures against emissions. The city will also advocate for high-quality development by facilitating efficient services.
Pan Ling, deputy secretary general of the Guilin municipal government, highlighted that 186 tasks are listed for 2025, including Lijiang River tributary restoration, international flight routes cultivation, and an AI-driven tourism upgrade. Guilin will aslo be the only representative city of China at the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo, aiming to fuse ecological preservation with cutting-edge tourism experiences.
