Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province will construct a training and drill base for public health emergencies.

The base, the first in Zhejiang, comes as part of the province's efforts to promote public health cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

With an estimated investment of one billion yuan ($144.9 million), the base will cover an area of 230 mu(15.3 hectares) and create modernized public health emergency training drills.

Cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence and virtual reality will also be employed to build virtual application scenarios and interactive platforms for drills and exercises.

Related facilities will be established to offer trainees with places to study, live and exercise.

A head official from the Huzhou municipal health commission said that they will further optimize the base's construction plan, accelerate site selection and other preparatory work, and strive to start construction as soon as possible.
