Sustained efforts to tackle water pollution have been bearing positive results in Deqing county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

The Yuyingxi River, which stretches a total of 71.3 kilometers, with 5.3 kilometers in the urban area of Deqing, exemplifies the change.

The once contaminated river has now become crystal clear thanks to a campaign initiated by local authorities to safeguard the water body.

In the past three years, Deqing county has eliminated the discharge of sewage to the Yuyingxi River. In November 2020, it also started to desilt the river's urban section.

In addition, water milfoil, which excels in absorbing contamination in comparison to other waterfeed, has also been planted in the river.

The river, due to its purified water, has even become a habitat for some wild water fowl.
