Huzhou to build roads circling Taihu Lake

Huzhou and three other cities surrounding Taihu Lake, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou in Jiangsu province, jointly unveiled a blueprint to construct rural roads circling the lake on July 13.

The roads, spanning 416.2 kilometers in total, will connect eight national 5A scenic spots and 42 4A scenic spots, and  inject new vitality to the development of villages alongside the lake.

The section in Huzhou will stretch 51.2 kilometers. 

Currently, more than 30 post stations, where passengers can rest and have drinks, have been erected along the roads aroundTaihu Lake.

In the future, the coverage of public transportation services will be further improved in the area and logistic services will be made available to all villages along the roads.

Huzhou has long attached great significance to the construction of rural roads.

By the end of 2020, rural roads in Huzhou extended 7,246.9 kilometers, accounting for 89 percent of the city's total. The density of its rural road network was 124.5 km/100 square km, ranking second in Zhejiang.
