Thirty-six talents sent from Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province to support the development of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region recently returned to the city, according to local media reports.

The group of people, who were primarily teachers and doctors, were sent to Kalpin county in Xinjiang to help the county's development in fields including healthcare and education.

During their stay in Kalpin, which began on April 26 last year, they not only fulfilled their duties, but also contributed to the county's talent cultivation efforts.

Among the 36 people sent to Kalpin, 30 were teachers, who were paired with 132 young local teachers to offer them guidance.

In addition, five doctors from Huzhou treated more than 3,000 people during their stay.

Teng Hui, an official from Huzhou responsible for the poverty alleviation work in Xinjiang, noted that the talents' assistance has had a more profound impact on the county's development, despite it might not be as apparent as initiatives like building construction.

Since 2010, Huzhou has been paired with Kalpin under the East-West program for poverty relief that was launched by the central government.

As of January, the city had allocated a total of 800 million yuan ($123.07 million) to support Kalpin and sent 189 cadres and professionals to help the county develop sectors like medical care, education, and agriculture.
