All 606 projects included in Huzhou's "beautiful town" construction plan for 2021 broke ground in the city in the first half of this year.

The city's 100 percent starting rate ranked first in East China's Zhejiang province.

Among them, 159 had finished construction as of the end of June, accounting for 42.9 percent of the total projects that should be completed within the year.

In addition, Huzhou had invested 14.65 billion ($2.25 billion) in the "beautiful town" campaign, with the amount making up more than 73 percent of the city's total planned investment.

As of July 16, Huzhou had completed the renovation of 247 dilapidated houses in its rural areas, two and a half months ahead of schedule. In addition, it had completed the surveying and archiving work on 298 of the city's 435 historical buildings in an effort to better protect them.

Huzhou has set the goal of constructing a total of 44 beautiful towns across the city within three years.

Last year, all of the 12 towns included in the campaign from Huzhou all passed the provincial examination and acceptance process. The city, as well as Anji and Deqing counties under its jurisdiction, were rated as excellent in a provincial assessment for the promotion of "beautiful town" construction.
