94.5% adults in Huzhou receive COVID-19 vaccinations

Official data shows that 4.518 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province as of July 31.

More than 2.72 million people aged 18 or above, representing 94.5 percent of adults in the city, have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

The time was 10 days earlier than the target time set earlier by the provincial government.

In August, the city will launch COVID-19 vaccinations for adolescents aged between 12 and 17. A total of 257,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines are expected to be administered to this group of people, according to local health authorities.

The city plans to perform first-dose vaccinations for minors aged between 15 and 17 from Aug 1 and second-dose vaccinations for them before Sept 20.

In addition, the first-dose vaccinations for minors aged between 12 and 14 have been set for after Sept 20 and the second-dose vaccinations for them before Oct 20.

There are two types of vaccines available for minors in Huzhou, the inactivated vaccines from Sinopharm and Sinovac.

Both of the inactivated vaccines consist of two doses, with the inoculation interval between the two doses of Sinopharm's vaccine recommended to be no less than three weeks, while the inoculation intervals for the Sinovac vaccine being no less than two weeks.
