COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 12 to 17 started in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 1.

Presently, the targeted people are those aged 15 to 17.

The city has extended the service timings of makeshift hospitals in its central urban areas to 8:00 pm and rolled out special sessions for students in the age range.

Students from Huzhou Middle School and Huzhou No 1 Middle School, for example, have been scheduled to receive the vaccinations on Aug 3. Students from Huzhou No 2 Middle School and Linghu Middle School will receive their vaccinations a day later.

For students not from schools in the central urban areas, they can receive their first jabs during the summer vacation with a chaperone at community health service centers and other inoculation venues.

To reduce the waiting time, it is recommended that these students receive the first shot after Aug 6.

The inactivated vaccines from Sinopharm and Sinovac are two types of vaccines available for minors in Huzhou.

The vaccinations for minors aged 12 to 14 will be launched in the city from Sept 1, according to local health authorities.
