A 50-mu (3.3 hectares) field of sunflowers recently entered full bloom in Lushan village, Southern Taihu Lake New District in Huzhou.
The sunflowers were planted on an idle place in July, with the flowering period lasting until mid-September.
Lushan village, which sits at the foot of Xisai Mountain, has been actively developing its rural tourism sector in recent years.
In the village, visitors can admire a vast stretch of colorful paddy rice fields, century-old gingko trees, and Xianding Temple, which has a history dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) .
The sunflower field comes as the latest step to transform rural landscapes and improve the village's tourism profile, according to Shen Fangmin, Party chief of the village.
After the sunflowers fade in late September, rapeseed will be planted in the same area, creating another wonderful scene in the spring.
