Rare wildlife discovered in Huzhou

Huzhou's Wuxing district is home to 929 species of higher plants, 192 species of terrestrial vertebrates, 286 species of terrestrial insects and 108 species of aquatic organisms, according to a biodiversity survey conducted by the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Science of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in May.
More than 10 species of higher plants were discovered in Zhejiang for the first time in the survey according to Wu Jianyong, the person in charge of the project.
In addition, about 10 species of animals under the national key protection including Chinese merganser and silver pheasant have been found in Wuxing.
