Huzhou's success in developing green products was praised by the State Administration for Market Regulation on Oct 18 and its experiences will be promoted across the nation, local media outlets reported.

Ever since the eastern Chinese city was designated a pilot city in green products in April 2018, it has made remarkable progress by authorizing 120 green-related companies and issuing 152 certificates, the highest among cities in China.

Statistics show that over 80 percent of such companies have gained financial support ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 yuan ($31,200 to $78,000) and that about 65 percent of the companies have realized annual sales growth of 10 percent and higher.

Huzhou made its efforts by researching various areas like environmental protection, energy saving, recycling, low carbon, and organic products. It then established a unified green product certification and labeling system.

For example, the six standards set up by Huzhou on wood-based panels and wooden floors have won national recognition and have become government standards.

Moreover, Huzhou has set up a traceability system to enhance consumers' confidence in local green products, which enables consumers to trace the source of every green product they buy.

In June, the city also teamed up with others cities in the Yangtze River Delta region for the integrated development of regional green products.
