Conference boosts exchanges between Huzhou, intl sister cities

Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province held a video conference with 13 foreign cities on Nov 10.

The 13 cities present at the conference included Joondalup in Australia, Cabo Frio in Brazil, Karlovac in Croatia, Montargis in France, Columbus in the United States and Glasgow in the United Kingdom.

Hong Hupeng, acting mayor of Huzhou, said at the conference that Huzhou values its relations with sister cities and has achieved fruitful cooperation results with them over more than three decades.

The city aspires to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with sister cities in aspects including economy, trade, cultural exchanges and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, so as to contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, Hong noted.

Huzhou and Glasgow signed a letter of intent to establish friendly exchange relations through video link.

To date, the city has set up sisterhood relations or had friendly exchange relations with 39 cities in 19 countries since 1987 when Shimada from Japan became its first sister city.
