The Huzhou trade mission to the fourth China International Import Expo, which concluded in Shanghai on Nov 10, signed $180 million in intended procurement deals with exhibitors.

The city also secured foreign investment contracts with a combined value of $940 million at the expo, involving industries such as electronic equipment, intelligent manufacturing and new materials.

This is the second time Zhejiang Langduo Food Co Ltd has attended the CIIE. Kambly cookies, showcased by a Huzhou-based import food agent at the expo, attracted many clients.

Retail sales of the Swiss brand's cookies hit a maximum of 100,000 yuan per day during the event, according to Shan Chen, general manager assistant at Zhejiang Langduo Food Co Ltd.

Huzhou held a total of 26 activities, including forums, business negotiations and promotional conferences, at this year's CIIE.

It also staged cultural performances such as a Changxing baiyelong dance and showcased local intangible cultural heritage items such as the crafting of the Huzhou writing brush and Changxing pottery on the sidelines of the expo.

The local government has used the event as a platform to attract investment.

Officials sent from the city established contacts with 682 exhibitors from countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
