Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled a three-year plan to boost the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector.
According to the plan, the goal for the city is to become an advanced manufacturing hub in the Yangtze River Delta region and a national model for green manufacturing.
To achieve this goal, the city will step up efforts in phasing out backward production capacity. By 2023, it aims to slash coal consumption and carbon emissions by 500,000 metric tons and 1 million tons respectively.
The city will also strive to strengthen its innovation capabilities, with an aim to facilitate industrialization of more than 100 scientific and technological achievements annually. The accumulative value of technology transactions during the three-year period will be raised to above 30 billion yuan ($4.6 billion).
Efforts to facilitate digital reform in some key sectors including children's wear, power battery and elevator will be intensified.
The local government aims to build more than 20 "future factories" at municipal level or above as well as 100 digital factories or workshop by 2023.
In addition, Huzhou will cultivate more domestically leading enterprises and raise the number of listed companies from the city to above 50.
