A fishing festival was held in Songshi village, Xinshi town, Deqing county, Huzhou on Dec 18, according to local reports.

Songshi village sits next to Zhuxi Lake, which covers a total area of 2,560 mu ( 170.6 hectares) and is home to more than 30 varieties of fish.

The festival, in its fourth edition this year, is an effort by the local government to develop tourism based on fish farming.

More than 20 fishermen harvested over 35,000 kilograms of fish during the event.

Deqing is known for its freshwater fish farming and has an aquaculture area of 205,000 mu.
