Eight Huzhou towns win provincial recognition

Eight towns (sub-districts) in Huzhou were recently honored as models in the "Beautiful Towns" campaign launched by Zhejiang province.

The eight recipients of the honor are Daixi town, Lianshi town, Moganshan town, Xizhuhu sub-district, Huaxi sub-district, Shuikou township, Xiaofeng town and Zhangwu town.

Daixi town

Daixi town is a national hub for cosmetics and has such facilities as museum, R&D organs and industrial parks related to cosmetics.

Shuikou town

Shuikou town is where Lu Yu compiled The Classic of Tea, which is said to be the first monograph about tea culture in the world. Zisun tea produced in the town is also a nationally renowned tea.

Xiaofeng town

With a history of over 1,800 years, Xiaofeng town is a national hub for the R&D, production and sales of bamboo machinery.

The town is where the Anji bamboo industry park, the only national forestry industry park in Zhejiang, is located.

Zhangwu town

Zhangwu town is the birthplace of Wu Changshuo (1844-1927), a prominent painter, calligrapher, and seal artist during the late Qing Dynasty (1840-1921). He was also the first president of the Xiling Seal Art Society.

The Former Residence of Wu Changshuo is a recipient of the UNESCO- Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
