Apart from the commonly known Taihu crabs, Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province is home to some other characteristic agricultural products.
One such example is Zaoyuan bamboo shoots produced in the city's Deqing county.
The history of planting Zaoyuan bamboo shoots in Deqing dates back more than 1,300 years. Currently, the annual output of the plants in the county stands at 79,100 metric tons worth 467 million yuan ($71.8 million).
Another characteristic agricultural product from Huzhou is grapes produced from Changxing county, which is dubbed "Turpan in Jiangnan". Turpan, a city located in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, is renowned for its grapes.
Every year, Changxing produces about 51,800 tons of grapes that are valued at 476 million yuan. More than 70 percent of them are sold outside the county.
In addition, yellow-feathered chicken from Huzhou's Nanxun district is another characteristic agricultural product.
There are 242 modern farms that rear about 3.5 million yellow-feathered chickens in the district. These farms have an annual output of about 15 million yellow-feathered chickens worth 300 million yuan.
