The container throughput in Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province topped 600,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent, official statistics from the Huzhou Port and Navigation Management Center show.

Among them, 319,300 containers were transported overseas.

Due to the sustained efforts in business expansion, the Anji port in Huzhou handled 30,600 containers in the past year.

In addition, the combined container throughput at the Deqing port and Changxing port surged 15.7 percent year-on-year to 21,230 TEUs.

The city's practices, including encouraging enterprises to transport goods by water instead of road, and by container ships instead of bulk ships, as well as easing container shortage by strengthening cooperation with sea ports such as Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhouhan Port,  have bolstered growth.
