Huzhou and its three jurisdictions – Nanxun district, Changxing county and Anji county – were recently designated as provincial pioneers in the development of "agricultural brains".
Anji was recognized for the development of an app for Anji white tea, a variety of green tea primarily produced in the county.
The app was launched in late March last year to ensure the tea's authenticity and to improve its output. It can track data related to the planting, processing, packaging, storage, and sale of the tea.
Real-time data related to soil, air, and humidity can be retrieved by the platform via sensors installed in the garden.
The app's launch has increased the output value of the white tea industry in Anji to 3.113 billion yuan ($478.92 million) in 2021, up from 2.759 billion yuan the previous year.
Changxing won the honor for the app developed by local authorities for the breeding of sheep native to Huzhou, while Huzhou and its Nanxun district were recognized for the application of internet of things (IoT) in fish farming.
Official statistics show that more than 10,000 sets of IoT sensors have been installed in over 10,000 fish ponds across Huzhou.
