Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province will issue 100 million yuan ($15.38 million) in coupons during the upcoming Spring Festival to stimulate local consumption.
The coupons, which are set to be released between Jan 30 and Feb 3, will come four in a set and each have a value of 25 yuan.
The government will release 100 sets of such coupons, and holders will save up to 25 yuan on the condition that they spend at least 100 yuan.
Each person can only apply for a set of coupons on Nantaihuhao, an app developed by the local government.
They will be released every day in three installments at 9:00 am, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, respectively.
The coupons can be used in offline above-quota retailers, homestays and catering units in the city before Feb 15.
In 2021, more than 27.45 million yuan in coupons were issued by Huzhou, leading to 2.127 billion yuan in consumption, official data show.
Apart from the coupons, visitors to all State-owned A-level scenic spots and 727 rural scenic spots in the city will be exempt from admissions fees from Jan 30 to Feb 15, local authorities recently announced.
