The Huzhou government's recent announcement to issue coupons worth 100 million yuan ($15.38 million) during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday has won praise from local residents and visitors to the city.
The coupons, which will be released between Jan 30 and Feb 3, can be used in offline above-quota retailers, homestays and catering units in the city before Feb 15. The coupons will be released every day at 9:00 am, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm respectively.
A resident surnamed Wang plans to tour Huzhou during the Spring Festival holiday instead of returning to his hometown in East China's Anhui province.
Wang, who has been living in Huzhou for a year, said the rollout of the coupons during the holiday is good news for foodies like him who will appreciate the discounts in local eateries and stores.
Echoing Wang, a visitor from Shanghai, said that coupons are a pleasant surprise for him. Wang has even set his alarm to ensure he gets his hands on the coupons.
Apart from the coupons, visitors to all State-owned A-level scenic spots and 727 rural scenic spots in the city from Jan 30 to Feb 15 will enjoy free admission, local authorities recently announced.
Public parking spaces on urban roads including sidewalks and driveways in the downtown areas of Huzhou will also open to the public free of charge during the holiday.
