Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province kicked off its first job fair in the Lunar Chinese New Year on Feb 9, according to local media reports.
The fair attracted more than 110 enterprises and public institutions, offering over 4,900 jobs in sectors such as electrical automation, machinery manufacturing, information technology, materials science, chemical engineering and human resources.
It is an effort by local authorities to boost employment and help stabilize production, according to Zhu Xinjiang, an official at the Huzhou municipal bureau of human resources and social security.
A highlight of the fair are the attempts made by some renowned enterprises to recruit employees via livestream in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Six enterprises held livestreams, garnering more than 42,000 viewers in two hours.
In addition to the livestreams, job information can also be accessed by jobseekers on Zhilian Recruitment, one of China's biggest recruitment websites.
