Huzhou has been rated "excellent" in the annual provincial assessment on the treatment of domestic sewage in rural areas in 2021, according to local media reports.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the city has won the honor, and the city's Deqing county also received the same rating.

To date, 6,756 sewage treatment facilities have been built in the city's rural areas, with a combined daily disposal capacity of 62,300 metric tons.

A rural sewage pipe network totaling 6,612 kilometers has also been completed.

Huzhou has eliminated the direct discharge of domestic sewage in more than 580 administrative villages thus far, benefiting 307,000 households.

In addition, an online monitoring system has been set up to monitor 100-tons-worth of domestic sewage in rural areas.

In Deqing county, facilities with a daily processing capacity of over 30 tons have all been installed with online monitoring gadgets.
