A government delegation headed by Guo Zhenggui, Party chief of Xiangxi autonomous prefecture, Hunan province, visited Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province from March 1 to 2.

In a meeting with Guo, Wang Gang, Party chief of Huzhou, congratulated him over Xiangxi's achievements in poverty alleviation – all its eight administrative areas have eliminated abject poverty - as well as its fast economic and social development.

Wang also gave a brief introduction of Huzhou, saying that the city is the birthplace of the concept "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and the nationwide "Beautiful Village" campaign.

He added that the city is striving to become a modernized socialist city that excels in green and low-carbon development and common prosperity.

Wang also expressed hope that the two places will continue to cooperate in fields including industrial development, rural revitalization, culture and tourism integration and talent exchanges.

Guo then thanked Huzhou for its long-term support of Xiangxi.

Since 2018, 1.8 million "Baiye No1" tea seedlings have been donated by Huzhou to three impoverished villages in Xiangxi.

All 656,000 poor people in the prefecture have been lifted out of poverty as scheduled, according to Guo.

Moving forward, he hopes that Huzhou and Xiangxi will deepen cooperation in agriculture, culture, tourism and cadre training, among other fields.

He also hopes that the two cities will establish sisterhood relations and work together to set a good example for cross-regional exchanges and cooperation.
