Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has set up a number of COVID-19 inspection stations for imported cold chain food.

According to regulations, drivers of trucks transporting imported cold chain food must make a reservation for inspection one hour ahead of their arrival.

After the information is certified, the food will undergo nucleic acid tests, and be disinfected regardless of the test results.

Afterwards, they will be labeled with "Zhejiang Cold Chain Food" codes, which will reveal information related to the product's place of origin and quarantine when scanned.

Li Xia, an official at the Deqing market supervision bureau, said the city will further strengthen the supervision of imported cold chain food, including poultry meat, aquatic products and fruits.

People have been urged not to buy imported cold chain food of unknown origins.

Self-protection measures including washing and disinfecting hands immediately after cooking or processing imported food are recommended.

People should also avoid touching body parts such as the mouth, nose and eyes when dealing with imported food. The virus can be eradicated at a cooking temperature of around 70 degrees Celsius.
