Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province announced a string of measures on March 14 to contain the further spread of COVID-19 after the city reported four locally transmitted cases.

According to the measures, those entering public venues including schools, hospitals and shopping malls must wear face masks and have their body temperature taken.

The visitor numbers to places including libraries, museums, cinemas, hotels and scenic attractions in Huzhou have been capped at half of their maximum capacity.

Diners are encouraged to take away their meals rather than have them in canteens or restaurants.

Offline gatherings including festive celebrations, exhibitions, lectures and sports events have been cancelled.

In addition, enclosed entertainment venues like bars, KTVs, mahjong lounges, internet cafés and off-campus training institutions have been told to suspend operations.

Closed-loop management has been imposed on places including schools, nursing homes, welfare houses and wards.

Citizens who have scheduled wedding banquets are also advised to postpone the celebrations. Funerals should be scaled down as well.

For the upcoming three-day Qingming Festival holiday, authorities advise people to pay tribute to deceased family members and worship ancestors online so as to avoid the crowds during the holiday.

People entering the city from other provinces as well as those working in sectors with high infection risk are required to undergo nucleic acid tests.
