Anji county in Huzhou reported two COVID-19 infections on the afternoon of March 28, according to local media reports.

A mother and her child tested positive during a routine nucleic acid test after they returned from a city outside Zhejiang province on the morning of March 28.

Anji immediately activated its emergency response mechanism, disinfecting and imposing close-looped management on the locations they visited.

Their contacts and sub-contacts have also been transferred to centralized isolation sites for medical observation and testing. More information will be released to the public soon.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with epidemic prevention and control work and take necessary self-protection measures including wearing face masks, washing hands frequently and maintaining a social distance of at least one meter.

Those with symptoms including fever, dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, loss of smell (taste) and diarrhea are required to seek medical treatment. Such individuals must not take public transportation to see a doctor.

Anji recently distributed 100,000 antigen self-test kits that can be used as a supplement to nucleic acid detection, which is still the primary diagnostic tool for COVID-19, to towns and sub-districts in the county.

A positive test result on the kit must be followed up with nucleic acid testing to confirm the presence of the virus.
