Three Huzhou locations – Wuxing district, Deqing county and Anji county - were recently designated provincial models for sports modernization.

Seventeen places across East China's Zhejiang province won such an honor. Huzhou topped Zhejiang in terms of the number of the honor recipients.

The candidates were evaluated by the provincial government based on factors such as sports services, sports venues, sports events and sports industrial scale.

Huzhou's Deqing county has made notable accomplishments in sports in recent years.

The county has been rated as a provincial model county in sports development and designated as a national sports industrial base. 

A number of high-profile sporting events, including the 2019 Canoe Polo Asia Cup and the TNF Cross Country Race, have been staged in the county.

It has also been selected to host the 19th Asian Games women's volleyball events and 3-on-3 basketball competitions.
