Anji white tea was ranked eighth in China in the annual ranking of regional public tea brand value, according to a survey recently released at the 2022 China Tea Conference.

This is the 13th consecutive year that the tea has made the top 10 list. Despite maintaining the same rank as the previous year, Anji white tea's brand value has increased by about 7.2 percent year-on-year to about 4.85 billion yuan ($746.15 million).

West Lake Longjing tea topped the ranking with a brand value of roughly 7.91 billion yuan.

The ranking, which was primarily compiled by Zhejiang University, measured the tea's brand value through mass data analysis, consumer feedbacks as well as expert reviews.

Anji white tea is a variety of green tea produced in Anji county, Huzhou. The long, narrow leaves are yellow and have a recognizable fold along the length of the leaf.

It was named as such because its buds that germinate before the Qingming Festival are white. The content of amino acid in the tea's fresh leaves is double that of ordinary tea.

In August 2020, the tea was listed among the first batch of geographical indication products recognized by the European Union. The royal family of the Kingdom of Morocco once even praised the quality of this tea.
