Huzhou's Nanxun district and Anji county were recently included in a provincial pilot program to build a group of model villages for common prosperity.

Through the program, Zhejiang aims to build 100 such villages in 20 counties (county-level cities and districts) across the province.

The places included in the program will be granted subsidies to explore replicable approaches to achieve common prosperity. Among the tasks involved is developing industries including leisure agriculture, tourism and e-commerce in rural areas.

Efforts will also be made to increase rural collective incomes and farmers' incomes, improve the environment as well as optimize rural governance.

In addition, these pilot areas should promote the use of digital technologies for administrative services in rural areas.

In June 2021, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, China's Cabinet, unveiled a guideline to build Zhejiang into a demonstration zone for common prosperity.

The province has since published a series of detailed plans and measures, and endeavors to realize common prosperity by 2035, when its per capita GDP and the income of urban and rural residents are expected to be on par with those of developed countries.
