Robots were recently utilized in silkworm breeding in Hefu town, Huzhou's Nanxun district, according to local media reports.

Chen Farong, president of Huzhou Baby Silkworm Industry Co Ltd, which is based in the town, said that the robots have helped the company slash costs by 20 percent.

Hefu town is renowned for its mulberry fish ponds, a special dike-pond model that integrates fish ponds with the breeding of mulberry silkworms.

The model was listed among the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2017.

In a bid to revitalize the traditional sericulture sector, robots were employed for the first time in Hefu with support from the local government, thus paving the way for wider application across the city.
