Huzhou launches campaign to revive tourism sector

Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province kicked off a tourism campaign on May 19 to mark National Tourism Day, which falls on the same day.

The campaign saw an introduction of preferential policies to revive the tourism sector which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. The campaign is slated to run until May 31.

Forty-six scenic spots and 38 hotels in Huzhou have pledged to grant visitors free entry or discounts this month. Among them, Skyland, which is located in a tourism resort in Huzhou's Anji county, will offer free admission to local residents in May.

In addition, coupons will be issued to stimulate local tourism consumption. Wuxing district, Changxing county and Deqing county have announced that they will release 5 million yuan ($769,230), 16.5 million yuan, 20 million yuan worth of coupons respectively.

Local authorities will distribute 500 tourism cards with a combined value of 100,000 yuan to people including medical workers and couriers to honor their contributions to the city's epidemic control efforts.

At the campaign launch ceremony, the city also unveiled 10 tourism products catered to short-distance travels.
