Huzhou has the second most campsites in China, according to a report recently released by a magazine affiliated to Southern Publishing & Media Group Co Ltd.

According to the report, the city in East China's Zhejiang province was home to 212 campsites as of May 10, only behind Hangzhou.

Huzhou was also ranked first among the top 10 camping destinations in a report released by online travel agency Ctrip this year.

Camping has become an increasingly popular holiday choice among Chinese. Bookings for camping trips on online travel platform Fliggy recorded a month-on-month surge of more than 350 percent during this year's five-day May Day holiday, according to a report by Beijing Business.

Xiaohongshu, a social media platform from China, released a list of 50 high-quality campsites in the Yangtze River Delta, a region encompassing the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, as well as Shanghai municipality, last November. Huzhou has the highest number of sites on the list with 34.

Earlier this year, Huzhou authorities teamed up with Ctrip to set up the nation's first facility that offers training related to camping.

A head official from the Huzhou municipal bureau of culture, radio, film and tourism noted that the city will promote standardized regulation of the camping industry so as to achieve wider recognition of its camping offerings.
