The per capita sports consumption of Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province has surpassed 2,000 yuan ($307.69), according to a recent report of hz66.com, which cited statistics from local cultural and sports authorities.

Payment for services related to sports, such as fitness training, accounts for about 40 percent of total consumption.

The report noted that an increasing number of consumers in Huzhou have been paying for online fitness classes and that they tend to spend more on sporting goods than their counterparts from other Chinese cities.

Gu Wenwen, a shop assistant at a sports apparel store in Zhebei Mansion in Huzhou, said that the store's sportswear and sports shoes have been selling well. Even the sales of sports socks and caps have picked up significantly.

Gu revealed that the shop's sales volume during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday was four times as much as usual, which was far beyond their expectations.

Shen Bin, a sports equipment salesperson, told reporters that the sales of sports watches, with which wearers can keep track of their physical fitness during exercise, in his Taobao store have increased dramatically since the beginning of this year.

He also pointed out that more and more Huzhou consumers, especially young people, have been willing to spend more money on professional and intelligent sports equipment.
