The inaugural Yangtze River Delta Camping Conference commenced in Anji county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on June 21.

Two campsites from Huzhou made the list of popular Yangtze River Delta campsites which was released during the event. The delta refers to a region encompassing the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, as well as Shanghai municipality.

Xu Tian, a genetics professor and the vice president of Westlake University, and Xu Yaping, a world champion canoeist and deputy director of China Water Sports Development Center of Zhejiang University, were appointed as the city's camping ambassadors.

An official from the Anji government said that the conference is part of authorities' efforts to raise awareness about Anji as an ideal camping destination and promote cultural and tourism integration in the Yangtze River Delta.

Huzhou has in recent years emerged as a popular camping destination. The city was ranked first among the top 10 camping destinations in a report released by online travel agency Ctrip this year.

Of the 50 high-quality campsites in the Yangtze River Delta that were highlighted by social media platform Xiaohongshu last November, 34 are located in Huzhou.

Huzhou is currently home to 78 campsites that have so far this year received about 350,000 tourists and generated a revenue of more than 70 million yuan ($10.77 million).

The city has also unveiled a string of guidelines related to camping to promote standardized regulation of the camping industry.
