Huzhou was recently rated as "excellent" in a provincial evaluation for water resource management in Zhejiang, local media reported.

In 2021, the city‘s total annual water consumption amounted to 1.26 billion cubic meters.

The water consumption per 10,000 yuan ($1,538.5) of GDP had decreased by 7.46 percent compared with the previous year, and the water consumption per 10,000 yuan of industrial added value decreased by 6.6 percent year-on-year, according to official statistics.

The leakage rate of urban public water supply pipes was kept within 10 percent, while the effective utilization coefficient of farmland irrigation water was raised to 0.63.

The utilization efficiency of water resources primarily in industrial production and agriculture has also been further improved.

The city has been promoting technical upgrading in six industries, including textiles, printing and dyeing, and thermoelectricity, that have high levels of water consumption to help them enhance their water utilization efficiency.

Last year, 38 enterprises from Huzhou won provincial honors for water conservancy.

The city has also invested heavily in the upgrading of irrigation facilities for agriculture as well as the standardization of rural water supply plants.
