All household garbage in Huzhou's Anji county is being treated in a harmless manner, according to local media reports.

This achievement has been made possible due to the efforts by authorities to promote garbage sorting.

To date, 41 residential compounds in Anji have been honored as provincial models in garbage sorting.

As of May 13, the local government had handled nearly 6,000 cases related to the breach of garbage classification regulations. These cases have led to fines amounting to nearly 400,000 yuan ($61,538).

Residents in the county have been required to sort their garbage before disposing of it at fixed locations and times starting in 2021. This practice has been implemented in more than 85 percent of the residential communities across the county.

The application of cutting-edge technology has also bolstered the campaign.

Azureflying, an Anji-based company, has introduced an array of products related to garbage classification since its inception. For example, it has developed garbage cans embedded with sensors that can track garbage volume and judge whether they are sorted properly. The smart machines also come with AI-powered robotic arms that can sort garbage.
