Huzhou was ranked first in a provincial assessment for the first quarter's performance in implementing the campaign launched by Zhejiang to upgrade scenic spots through micro renovations, local authorities announced recently.

In 2021, the city was included in the provincial pilot program and was ranked first in the provincial evaluation in this regard that same year.

Official statistics show that Huzhou has spent 5.52 billion yuan ($849.23 million) on micro renovations of 2,267 projects in 944 scenic spots to date.

Miaoxi town in Huzhou's Wuxing district is among the beneficiaries of the program. Here, old sheep pens, old ditches and idle farmland have been transformed into scenic spots.

In 2021, Maoxi received 253,000 tourists, raking in 10.9 million yuan in revenue from homestays, agritainment services and agricultural product sales.

Xilong township in Anji county has also reaped dividends. Because of the campaign, the warehouse located near a 10,000-mu (666.7 hectares) flower garden in the township has been transformed into a teahouse which can generate more than 20,000 yuan in daily revenue during weekends.
