Land reform has in recent years brought about significant changes to Guangyintang village in Shanlian town, Huzhou's Nanxun district.

The changes started to occur in 2009, when Guangyintang launched a campaign to demolish an abandoned earth kiln in the village and build workshops.

This move was followed by more land reform efforts. From 2016 to 2021, Guangyintang rented out 1,950 mu (130 hectares) of land which was left idle due to measures such as the relocation of residential houses to an aggregation zone and increased land integration.

The land reform generated an annual income of 6,000 ($923.08 ) to 7,000 yuan for each household in the village, and increased the collective operating income from 25,000 yuan in 2008 to 1.21 million yuan in 2021, according to Yang Guoqin, Party chief of Guangyintang.

The increased income has since empowered the village and allowed it to ride the growing wave of rural tourism in China. Dingjiazha, a natural village under its jurisdictions, is now being turned into a rural scenic spot known for its fishing and tea.

In addition, a 200-square-meter frog button workshop renovated from the village hall has been set up to promote the traditional skill. A button frog (sometimes referred to as a Chinese frog button) is an ornamental braid used to fasten the front of a garment.
